Affectionately called as ‘Kalaignar’ by his followers, Karunanidhi in 2010, gifted his Gopalapuram residence to set up a hospital for the poor. A week-long state mourning has been declared in Tamil Nadu as DMK chief and five-time Chief Minister M Karunanidhi passed away at 6:10 pm on Wednesday.
